Nine Men’s Morris — How to play and useful tips

Place nine stones on 24 points, form rows of three and capture opposing stones. Play three CPU levels or share a board with another player.

Controls

  1. Starting with the first player, alternate placing your nine stones on empty points. The board has 24 points and 32 connecting lines. There are no diagonal moves or diagonal mills.
  2. Three of your stones on a marked straight row form a mill. Capture one opposing stone before the turn changes. Forming two mills at once still earns only one capture.

Playing tips

  • A stone in an opposing mill is protected while that opponent has any stone outside a mill. If all their stones are in mills, any of them may be captured.
