Cribbage — How to play and useful tips

Discard two cards to the crib, then take turns playing up to 31. Score fifteens, pairs and runs, count your hand and race the CPU to 121.

Controls

  1. Play a two-player game with 52 cards. Choose CPU strength and the initial dealer. The dealer owns the crib; the other player leads. Defaults are a random dealer and Normal CPU.
  2. Choose two of your six cards and confirm them for the dealer’s crib. After both players discard, reveal the starter. A jack starter gives the dealer 2 points. It is not played into the count.

Playing tips

  • Take turns playing the four cards kept, without exceeding 31. Aces count as 1, face cards as 10. Fifteen and thirty-one score 2. Consecutive matching ranks score 2, 6 or 12 for two, three or four cards. A recent run scores its length regardless of order.
